Screen: Non Credit Instruction

1. Add text to top of screen

Why: Clarify the purpose of this screen.

  • Text to add “Use this screen to document instruction or presentation to non-academic audiences OR Guest lecture in a for-credit course.”

2. Move Instruction title to top of screen

Why: Improve flow.

3. Remove Sponsoring Organization

Why: This info is not relevant for reporting purposes.  It’s almost always captured in title.

 

4. Move Conference or meeting name if part of a larger event just below Explanation of Other for Instruction type.

Why: Improve flow of the form.

 

5. Instructors DSA Role Type update

Why: Move the most used entries to the top of the list to improve data quality and customer UX.

Reorganize the list:

  • Author
  • Author/Presenter
  • Presenter
  • Panelist
  • Moderator
  • Coordinator/Organizer/Facilitator
  • Moderator

 

Change all DSA Role’s set to Facilitator/moderator to coordinator/organizer/facilitator.

Why: These tree things are similar enough to group together, where moderator is a different role.

 

5. Move Number of classes if series just below Conference or meeting name if part of a larger event

Why: improve flow

6. Add Duration field, under Number of Classes If Series

  • Duration, [DURATION], Text (integer)
    • Add help text to the Duration field: “Duration is based on the entry. If your record refers to an individual in a series of events, enter the duration of that event alone. If your record refers to a series of events, enter duration as the sum of the durations of each event in the series. Round duration to the nearest hour, and enter a whole number in the “duration” field.”

 7. Move If student, what level above the line and just under Instructor of record

Why: Improve flow

 8. Move Invited or volunteered and Gross program revenue below # of youth educational contacts.

Why: Improve flow

 9. Update label “If associated with credit course” to “If guest lecture in credit course

Why: Clarify the purpose of these questions.
