Step-by-Step Instructions

Campus- and field-based faculty and staff contribute a variety of service to the institution and broader community, which can be documented in Faculty Success. Service is broken out into four groups:

  • Service to the Institution is often in the form of participation on hiring or other focused committees. For extension field appointees, if the benefit is at the county level, choose the “department/school” level of service. If the benefit is at the Extension Program level, choose “college.”
  • Service to the Profession is service that benefits our professional societies and associations.
  • Service to Students can take many forms, including advising roles for student organizations, writing letters of recommendation and much more. Those who work in 4-H programming should carefully delineate their service to students from their assigned duties, which would be documented elsewhere in Digital Measures.
  • Service to the Public can be professionally or non-professionally related. Professionally related service to the public is service for which your ties to the institution or your professional accomplishments lend authority to your role. Non-professionally related service to the public often reflect personal passions outside of the professional life. Coaching sports and scouting are common services. Reporting non-professionally related service to the public is entirely optional.
